TOYOTA SUPRA MK4

11th March 2010

On the 11th we went to Silverstone Circuit in Northamptonshire to attend a trackday with the Supra. Unfortunately we were unable to use the full GP circuit as construction is underway for the F1 in July, but the National circuit was sufficient to enable us to setup the suspension and get some tuition from Colin Davids.

December 2009

We were lucky enough to have our Supra featured in a Redline Review in December. Here is a snippet, visit http://www.redlinemag.com/ for a back issue.

21st October 2009

The new rear wing has now been added to the car as have the canards and think they really set off the lines of the car. The parts were road tested earlier this week and performed well with no problems.

Also redline magazine have visited us recently for a magazine feature. The photo shoot went well and thanks to the guys at redline,  we look forward to the article in the coming weeks.

7th October 09

We have decided to make some modification's to the body of the supra. this includes a new rear wing which will be one of our universal carbon blades, with the original wing going on the 306 maxi. we are developing a new carbon fibre skin for the upper middle section of the bumper which will increase ventilation to the engine bay

the car has now been mapped on the road and the dino now producing in excess of 640 bhp and over 600 ft lb of torque! we have also put a new set of full carbon fibre canards to improve the handling and reduce the amount of front end lift at higher speeds

September 09

Well what can we say, after a complete rebuild, many hours of toil and 2 hours of sleep on Saturday night we finally made it to TRAX with the Supra with no major dramas.

We installed a race technology Dash2 unit as with all our recent builds and for the minute have configured it to display Fuel and Oil Pressures, Water Temperature and Fuel Level. With careful calibration of the Dash (water temp is accurate to within 1°) and use of the visual and audible limit alarms the dash tells us if there is a overheating problem, if Pressures have dropped too low, and proves to be a valuable safeguard for the engine.

In the end the installation of the gearbox went well, the gear stick hole that we had machined lined up perfectly with the tunnel. Also we got the prop-shaft rebuilt completely to enable us to use the Automatic gearbox rear end with the R154 manual gearbox splined end, and for the length we needed.

We used some lightweight carpet to cover the rear seat wells and had the Nur-Motorsport logo and GT650 embroidered onto the flat section which is nice visual touch.

The engine has only just been rebuilt and thus we have put a running in map on it, allowing only the very minimum of boost before cutting. We will run the car in for 1000 miles and then see what the engine can really do.

17th August 09

The Supra is now being reassembled, vents have been installed in the front wings to vent hot brake air.

We have made a cut in the front bumper between the headlights which will take full advantage of the Nismo style exit louvres on the bonnet to draw hot air through and out of the radiator and engine bay.

The seats are installed and the rollcage is going in at the minute, next on the list is the gearbox which will enable us to measure up for the prop which will need to be adjusted.

15th July 09

Reassembly continues on the Supra, though slower than we would like due to the construction work we are completing.

18th June 09

The Supra has now had its final polish, front bumper and side skirts have been painted, and the car is being partially reassembled in the fitting bay at our bodyshop.

4th June 09

The car has now been painted by the bodyshop with our trademark carbon lettering showing through. We are over the moon with the finish and will have the car back to begin work on its reassembly soon.

Also in the meantime we have completed the work to move the gearshift rearwards to fit the Mk4 Supra. This conversion will soon be for sale.

11th April 09

Today we sent the Supra off to our bodyshop to have the outstanding paintwork completed. The carbon roof panel that was installed was scratched so a replacement is being produced while the car is away.

Some pictures of the car today:

9th April 09

The Supra has now been moved to one of our priority projects in order to get it ready for the Summer for touring Europe.

We are doing a conversion to manual gearbox, using a R154 5 speed which comes from a Mk3 Supra, we will be doing a conversion kit for this including a shifter extension in order to make it usable for this car. With uprated internals this will be able to handle over 750hp. A alloy prop has been manufactured to get the correct length to the differential.

Other things to be completed in the upcoming weeks are cut out boot floor, diffuser and fuel tank installation and loom stripping to remove electronic addons such as rear window wiper, fuel cut defender etc etc and repair from gadgets that were put in, all to remove weight and make further work simpler to complete.

The Supra has been put on a crash diet. She is going to be stripped of her existing Roof, Doors, and Tailgate which will be replaced with Carbon Fibre body panels. Along with this we will be giving her Perspex Glass, and taking away all the play safe extras which means no ABS, no Traction Control, no Air Bags, and removing all the sound proofing, which all leads to more excitement and thrills when driving her round the track and to make it even lighter we’ve replaced the seats with Light Weight Carbon Fibre seats and taken out that unnecessary air conditioning.

As you would already have seen this car currently has an automatic gear box, which we will also be changing. We will be fitting a 5 speed manual gear box with a 6 puck heavy duty clutch, and also changing the existing steel prop shaft to a lighter weight alloy shaft.

It’s not like we are happy to stop making her quicker there we have also re-built the bottom end of the engine so it can handle up to 1000Bhp, as can the new Turbo. We will however cap her at 750Bhp, to prevent the power getting the better of the car, and so it is more reliable.

After upgrading the 11-point roll cage to a 14-point weld-in roll cage, and her new slim line lightweight feel she will end up with a weight loss of around 200-225 kilos.

A 750Bhp 1250Kg car – None too shabby.

The car at the Modball rally 2007 which we took part in to raise money for Breast cancer and the NSPCC

The next destination was Austria so we stopped at the Nurburgring on the way through. We were arrested for having stickers on the car, then escorted to the Belgian border. We had to remove the stickers to sneak through Germany in the night in order to meet back up with the Modball.

Despite all of this stress the car didnt miss a beat.
