Kev Atkins wins Round 6 in Time Attack Club class
On October 12th Snetterton played host to the final round of the Time Attack UK series. We were invited along by Kev Atkins, winner of the championship last year and a valued customer and company friend, to view the last competition of the season.
What an event, Kev walked away with it with his Finals time being 1.08 seconds faster than his next competitor, with a time of 1:14.7. To demonstrate quite how fast this is, the BTCC record is 1:11.6, British Superbike 1:06.7 and 1:09.8s for British GT cars. He also came 3rd in the Club Championship and received awards for fastest Mitsubishi and fastest Club lap of the day.

Time Attack projects.
We have recently completed a project for Kev Atkins Mitsubishi Lancer Evo 6 that competes in, and in 2007 won, the Time Attack Club championship. Some aero parts were required to lend more grip to the front of the car to balance its understeer caused by the high nose weight of the Evo and large rear wing.
To achieve this, a carbon front splitter and canard package were used to create better flow and downforce on the front end. This should help Kev to maintain front end grip and ultimately get quicker lap-times.
Another recent project was the construction of several carbon parts for John Begley’s Taisan Replica Skyline GT-R R32, which also competes in the Time Attack Club series with Kev’s Evo. To reduce weight a Carbon boot lid was manufactured and while looking around our workshop John saw a R32 splitter and had to have it.
As a demonstration of the downforce the splitter produced, after a drive John noticed the original splitter had dropped, the new splitter had in fact pulled the old rivets though the bumper! The addition of stay bars connecting the main bumper and carbon splitter solved this problem. Follow the progress of both of the Time Attack cars at http://www.timeattack.co.uk/.
